Classical Mechanics: The Theoretical Minimum : Leonard Susskind, George
This book basically tries to compress two or three undergraduate courses on classical mechanics into 227 pages. To do this, it starts at a rapid trot and soon bursts into a flat-out gallop. It certainly achieves it objective of being the 'minimum'. I did the two or three undergraduate courses (forty years ago), and I did subsequently emerge with a plausible degree from a moderately well-respected university, but I struggled to keep up

Classical Mechanics (Fall, 2011) | The Theoretical Minimum
Our exploration of the theoretical underpinnings of modern physics begins with classical mechanics, the mathematical physics worked out by Isaac Newton (1642--1727) and later by Joseph Lagrange (1736--1813) and William Rowan Hamilton (1805--1865). We will start with a discussion of the allowable laws of physics and then delve into Newtonian mechanics. We then study three formulations of classical mechanics respectively by Lagrange, Hamiltonian and Poisson. Throughout the lectures we will

The Theoretical Minimum - Wikipedia
The Theoretical Minimum is a book and a Stanford University-based continuing-education lecture series, which became a popular YouTube-featured content. The series commenced with What You Need to Know reissued under the title Classical Mechanics: The Theoretical Minimum. The series presently stands at three books covering the first three of six core courses devoted to: classical mechanics, quantum mechanics, special relativity and classical field theory, general relativity

Classical Mechanics: The Theoretical Minimllm is the answer. The term theoretical minimum was not my own invention. It originated with the great Russian physicist Lev Landau. The TM in Russia me nt everything a student needed to know to work under Landau himself. Landau was a very demanding man: His theoretical minim um meant just about everything he knew, which of course no one else could possibly know. I use the term differendy. For me, the theoreticaJ minimum means just what you need to

The Theoretical Minimum I: Classical Mechanics - CosmoLearning
This is the first course in a collection of 6 core physics courses by renowned physicist Leonard Susskind's series, The Theoretical Minimum. Our exploration of the theoretical underpinnings of modern physics begins with classical mechanics, the mathematical physics worked out by Isaac Newton (1642--1727) and later by Joseph Lagrange (1736--1813) and William Rowan Hamilton (1805--1865). The Theoretical Minimum
The Theoretical Minimum is a book for anyone who has ever regretted not taking physics in college—or who simply wants to know how to think like a physicist. In this unconventional introduction, physicist Leonard Susskind and citizen-scientist George Hrabovsky offer a first course in physics and associated math for the ardent amateur. Unlike most popular physics books—which give readers a taste of what physicists know but shy away from equations or math—Susskind and Hrabovsky actually
Modern Physics: The Theoretical Minimum - Classical Mechanics
While these courses will build upon one another, each course also stands on its own, and both individually and collectively they will let students attain the "theoretical minimum" for thinking intelligently about modern physics. Quantum theory governs the universe at its most basic level. In the first half of the 20th century physics was turned on its head by the radical discoveries of Max Planck, Albert Einstein, Niels Bohr, Werner Heisenberg, and Erwin Schroedinger. An entire new
